Makov and Alon: Going on to a Third Round with the ILSI-BioMed 2010

ALON&MAKOV-ILSI BIOMED 2010Ruti Alon and Israel Makov will be the two co-chairpersons of the ILSI-BioMed Week 2010.

Some couples are made in heaven, no doubt about it. Such must be the lot of Israel Makov and Ruti Alon, the two co-chairpersons of the ILSI-BioMed Week for the past three years in a row. The great success which the ILSI-BioMed 2009 Week achieved last year left no choice for the two. Makov, former president and CEO of Teva, one of the pioneers of the Israeli bio-tech industry, and currently the CEO of Given Imaging, and Alon, senior partner in the Pitango Venture Capital and chairperson of the Israeli Life Sciences Industry, will both continue to serve yet another year as co-chairpersons of the ILSI-BioMed Week. BioMed Israel, which includes a conference and an exhibition, has evolved under the duo’s management into one of the largest international events held in Israel, and last year had more than six thousands attendees from Israel and abroad.

The ILSI-BioMed 2010 Week is the main annual event of the life sciences industry in Israel. The four-days event includes an exhibition of the latest innovations, as well as a professional conference attended by the best experts in the field of bio-pharma and medical devices: CEOs and high-ranking managers, scientists and researchers, entrepreneurs, spin makers, venture capital managers and private investors,  from Israel and abroad.

Well, so far for the press release stuff. Speaking for myself, I can say that I’ve been to the BioMed Week twice before now, and it has always been a pleasure, as well as an educational experience. The buzz in the conference area is everlasting, all through the days of the conference. Young and young-in-the-spirit entrepreneurs strut around trying to sell their new companies. CEOs attempt to recruit promising people into their companies. Venture capital managers haggle with everyone else. In short, everyone has fun in BioMed, and usually show some profit to boot as well.

And so, The ILSI-BioMed Israel 2010, which has earned itself international acclaim and is considered one of the most important events in the industry worldwide, will be held between the 14th and 16th of June in David Intercontinental in Tel Aviv. As more news reach our ears, we’ll make sure to pass them on to you, dear readers.
