The Third Health Care Technological Innovation Program – From Idea to Commercialization, will be held on December 6th-8th, 2009, in Tel Aviv University.
How does a regular Joe become a good manager? And how does a good manager become a great manager? Some people out there will tell you it’s all about your genes: either you have it, or you don’t. Others say that anyone can be a good manager, or even a great one, if they just get the right kind of training and coaching. Myself, I believe that the truth lies somewhere in between, and that most people can succeed in management with some guidance. Fortunately, a new three-day program at Tel Aviv University now offers that kind of guidance – even if it is for quite a steep price.
“The Third Health Care Technological Innovation Program – From Idea to Commercialization” is a three day program offered by the Faculty of Management of Tel Aviv University, the Israel Life Science Industry Organization (ILSI), LAHAV – Executive Education at the Faculty of management, and The Center for Medicine in the Public Interest and International Institute for Biotechnology Entrepreneurship.
Now, that’s quite a list of big names.
On the more practical side, the program focuses on the critical elements in the formation, launch, and strategic and operational management of health-related technologies, with a particular focus on companies developing enabling technologies in biotechnology and medical devices used in human treatment and diagnosis.
Quite honestly, just reading the schedule makes me wish I could afford being there. Lectures and panels such as “Understanding Today’s New Environment – Financing a Life Science Venture”, or “Practical tips for CEOs, for survival and growth in tough financial environment- What not to do… and What to do” seem to be essential for any manager in the bio-field who wishes to remain standing in the current environment.
So that’s the good side of the coin. The bad side is that the price for taking part in the program is somewhere around the 5K NIS. All the same, if you can afford to pay the bill, go for it. Even if you learn nothing new (which seems hard to believe), the connections people are going to be making in this three-day course can make or break futures.
